The Bugatti Veryon
O....M.....G!!!!
This car does so many things previously thought impossible. Among them is that
it almost makes Lamborghinis and Ferraris look like old news. Highlights: 253
mph top speed! W-16 engine (two V-8s bolted together); two transmissions (one
for even gears and one for odd) that eliminate the pause between gears other
cars have when shifting because the next gear is ALREADY ENGAGED. So, when
accelerating...it just KEEPS accelerating and does...not...stop for a moment. It
does 0-60 and back to 0 in less than five seconds; 0-62mph in 2.3 seconds (jet
fighter catapults on aircraft carriers do 0-60 in 3); 1,001 horse power; 12
radiators, many aircraft, titanium parts and components; and a 1.7 MILLION
dollar BASE price (withOUT options).
You could buy SIX Lamborghini Murcielagos for that amount. I still love Ferraris and Lambos.....but this Veryon is truly in a class that it invented for itself.
When
this engine was first tested, the hottest ever exhaust almost burned the
building down. It runs so hot that it takes 12 specially built radiators (each
takes 17 hours to build), and all hand made with with 10 layers each from
aircraft quality materials.
In fact, the nearly 100% hand made car required many titanium parts for the heat energy it generates. It took 16 inch disc brakes (the largest ever produced for such a car) made from a composite of three aircraft grade materials. Even with that, it required a functioning aircraft wing on the back that doubles as an air brake - providing 70% of the car's total braking power....used the same way that an aircraft speed brake is used. The first B.V. shot six foot flames out the back at high speeds.
Volkswagen bought the rights to Bugatti and is producing this car in Germany. Only 300 will Ever be made.
