by Lee Stroebel. I have been reading apologetics
for most of my life, and pretty much every point I have ever heard appears
in this one book written by a nationally syndicated investigative reporter
(and an agnostic when he started the book). He had originally set out to DISprove Christ's Truth, but found Faith when he "looked for dirt."
He objectively addresses pretty much every objection I have ever heard too.
Daily Dose Notes on My Time with God
Out of the
Mouths of Babes: The Bible is emphatic about having what it calls
"Child-like Faith." Religious education is marvelous but many people come to
love it for its own sake...turning what can be enlightening discussion into the
endless semantic splitting of hairs. I have known many such people...who love to
hear the cleverness of their verbal jousting ability (best evidenced by the
relativism of Postmodern "philosophers") much more
than any sincere quest for actual Truth. Jesus reserved His venom for such
people...the showy religious leaders (Pharisees and Sadducees) of His day were
far worse in His mind than whores and tax collectors. Perhaps it is the child's
inability to put on such airs that makes them God's own model for Faith.

Hardy's Corner:
Hardy
(pictured left) is a man I served with overseas. He is among the most
intellectual people I know. He can quote (word-for-word from memory) whole pages
from encyclopedias or scholarly works and is still taking classes at nearly
sixty years old. He was a Green Beret company commander at one time, the Captain
of many large ships, an underwater welder, and is quite a logical / intellectual
Christian. I traveled - and often shared a room - with him and his boxes of
books over there. Although I don't always agree with him, I think you'll be as
interested by his insights as I am.
