Notes from my (more-or-less-regular) time with God) What is this page? The Bible says that we should "pray without ceasing." Of course, this doesn't mean to do everything - like drive -head down and eyes closed...and you should be able to make a cheese sandwich without having to pray for guidance. "Pray without ceasing" just means that it is possible to cultivate a constant, liberating sense of God's presence in our lives. So yes, one can do this anywhere, at any time. But it is impossible to be aligned with God and His plans / blessings / tasks / encouragement for your life without daily time dedicated just to Him (He values sacrifice) and study of The Biblical Teachings that are the ultimate source of wisdom and freedom. This daily time (called a devotional or a quiet time in Christian-ese) is not something we "have to do" to score cosmic points with God. We do it to maximize our growth and maturity in Faith, and we value the discipline required to study God Teachings regularly. Mostly so that we can develop wisdom and so He can more fully reveal Himself to us. With a love of God will come a desire for His Word and Wisdom, so it should not feel like a chore. It is a blessing to have the freedom for this in a world where many governments restrict, persecute, and even kill people just for having a Bible. Time management, tho, is a challenge for everyone, with our busy schedules, and that's why it often does feel like a chore to devote our precious time to God. Yet it is true that one can tell what things are most important to us by how much of our precious time we allocate to it. In my life, one of the biggest competitors for His Time with me is my computer(s). I get sucked into them very easily and deeply. So, I decided to redirect that distraction by dedicating a section of my website (this one, actually) to journaling my daily quiet time with God. I will publish the parts of it that are not too personal for me - or those for whom I pray - because revelation and epiphany should be shared, so that they may bless and enrich the lives of others, and so that we can be corrected when we need it. Please note: these pages will not be as polished as the other articles you will find on my website. This section is squeezed into my prayer time every morning (I hope) and is more a "brainstorm" kind of writing....with little or no effort made to form a logical structure. If I were more cool, some people would probably call this approach "free-sylin." :-) If you are a regular visitor and start to notice that these entries are becoming irregular, please call me on it and keep me accountable. Believe me, I need all the help I can get. Have a blessed day!
