THE HERCULES a.k.a. the "SPRUCE GOOSE"
The Evergreen Aviation Museum in Oregon is the
now permanent home of the Hercules, or "Spruce Goose."
I visited there once. Essentially it is a building that was constructed AFTER the main attraction was put in place! And then many other airplanes were added that now reside in the ample space UNDER the Hercules.
By the way, Howard Hughes (pictured left) HATED the moniker "Spruce Goose" that stuck in the mind of the public. To him, it would always be the Hercules
