Reception immediately following on the deck behind the location of the ceremony. Easy for everyone and beautiful at Sunset. Destin has as average of 342 sunny days per year, and we paid extra for a nice orange sky sunset that night :-) Enjoy the open bar, the cake (the best reason not to elope!), and ample food.
Dress Code
Gaylene has requested "Casual Dressy." No shorts or jeans, please, but guests need not show up in formal wear, by any means.

WHY BOOK at the RESORT? There are cheaper places you could find in Destin, but it would be great for a lot of people to stay at the Sandestin Resort. It is a self-contained community with a lot of great amenities, activities, free bicycles, a free hour of tennis each day, two top-50 Florida Golf Courses, a marina, an entire village of shops and restaurants etc - and of course the beautiful beaches! - for us all to enjoy together. You can literally park there at the beginning of the weekend and never leave.
Our whole idea was to choose a place that will cater to our guests in a way that they would enjoy if they weren't coming to be with us on our day. Meet your favorite people in the morning at the Starbucks (a.k.a. "Five-Bucks") or the Broken Egg Cafe, etc. and spend the rest of the day recreating. Destin is known for deep SCUBA diving, famous as the best deep sea fishing site in the world, has sugar white beach sand and many other attractions. All at just the right time of the year for enjoying it all. Sound fun? It really is.
Getting To Destin:
The best airports are Pensacola and Ft. Walton. Drive time from Atlanta is approx 6 hours. I would not recommend taking Hwy 331. It is literally infested with cop traps. I have never seen anything like it. I'm convinced that my Grandmother Henrietta couldn't drive through there without getting pulled over.
Registry
As reluctant as I am to post this...we got a lot of comments that we need to add it. We are registered at Target and Home Depot. But PLEASE do not consider a gift to be a requisite for attending / sending a nice card. We are 39 and 32, so we don't need much beyond your presence and / or well-wishes.
